Everbuild 565 Clean Room Silicone (Food Mate)

Everbuild 565 Clean Room Silicone is the updated replacement for the well-known Foodmate product. Same job, better formula. If you’re still finding Foodmate on shelves somewhere, it’s worth knowing that 565 is the current product and anything else is likely old stock. This is what you want.

It’s a high modulus, neutral cure, alcoxy silicone sealant, and the key word there is neutral cure. That means no acetic acid off-gassing, no vinegar smell, and no risk of corrosion to sensitive metals like copper or lead. That matters in food production facilities, hospital environments and pharmaceutical clean rooms where you simply can’t have strong chemical odours or contamination risk during or after application.

FDA approval under regulation 21CFR177.2600 means it’s independently tested and cleared for use in food preparation and refrigeration areas. It also meets ISO 11600 F&G 25HM, which is the standard covering sealant performance for facades and glazing. So it earns its place on a general specification sheet just as comfortably as it does in a food factory.

Where Everbuild 565 Clean Room Silicone Gets Used

The adhesion range is genuinely wide. Glass, metals, most plastics, UPVC, polycarbonate, painted and unpainted wood, ceramics. No primer needed on most common substrates, which saves time on large sealing runs. It’s a high viscosity, non-slump formula, so it stays put on vertical joints without running before it skins.

Slow skinning time is a deliberate benefit here, not a limitation. For long joint runs in commercial fit-outs or perimeter glazing, you need time to tool the bead properly without rushing. 565 gives you that working window.

Movement and Long-Term Performance

With plus or minus 25% movement capability, it handles thermal expansion and structural movement without cracking or debonding. External weathering performance holds up well over time, making it a solid choice for curtain walling, pre-formed panel joints, parapet sealing and insulated glass unit bedding.

Mould resistance is built in via Steritouch treatment, which is particularly useful in the wet, warm conditions typical of food processing and commercial kitchen environments. It won’t stay clean forever on its own, but it resists mould growth better than standard silicones in those settings.
