Clean the drilled hole thoroughly before injecting any resin. Blow out dust with compressed air or a blow pump, then brush with a hole cleaning brush, and repeat the process at least twice. Any residual dust will prevent the resin from bonding to the substrate properly.
Fit the mixing nozzle to the cartridge and discard the first short bead of resin before beginning injection, as the initial material from a new nozzle may not be correctly mixed. Inject resin from the bottom of the hole upwards, filling to around two thirds. Insert the threaded rod or rebar with a slow rotating action to ensure even resin distribution, then hold or prop it in position and allow to cure fully before applying any load.
Drill the hole to the correct diameter and depth for the anchor size being used
Blow out the hole with compressed air or a hand pump to remove loose dust
Brush the hole with a wire cleaning brush, then blow again and repeat the cycle at least twice
Fit the mixing nozzle to the cartridge and prime by dispensing a short bead of resin until the colour is consistent, then discard that bead
Insert the nozzle to the base of the hole and inject resin slowly as you withdraw the nozzle, filling the hole to approximately two thirds
Insert the threaded rod or rebar with a slow rotating motion to spread the resin evenly
Hold or support the fixing in position until the resin has cured sufficiently to hold it in place
Allow full cure time before applying any structural load
Can this polyester chemical anchor resin be used in hollow or perforated blocks?
Not directly. In hollow or perforated masonry, resin will simply flow into the voids rather than building up around the fixing. You need to use a mesh sleeve that fills the hole and contains the resin. Once sleeved, chemical anchoring in hollow substrate works well.
What is the difference between polyester and vinylester chemical anchor resin?
Polyester resin is the standard option for most dry and damp concrete and masonry applications. Vinylester resin is a step up in chemical resistance and is used in more demanding conditions, such as permanently wet environments, higher temperature applications, or where the specification calls for a higher-rated system. For most everyday structural fixing work, polyester is the right call and better value.
Polyester chemical anchor resin is a two-component system supplied in a dual cartridge. The polyester base resin and hardener are kept separate until dispensed through a static mixing nozzle, which ensures a consistent mix ratio without any manual measuring.
