Aluminium Foil Tape – 45m Rolls

Aluminium foil tape is one of those products that earns its place on the van and never really leaves. Self-adhesive and fire resistant to Class O, this 45m roll is used across HVAC, plumbing, insulation work and general building maintenance. The pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive bonds to most clean surfaces and handles temperature extremes without lifting, cracking or losing its grip — which is more than can be said for a lot of cheaper alternatives.

The backing is 30 micron aluminium with a total tape thickness of 70 micron, giving it enough body to handle without tearing but still flexible enough to conform around pipe lagging, duct joints and irregular surfaces. The adhesive is a cold-weather solvent acrylic formulation, which means it stays workable in low temperatures where other tapes simply refuse to cooperate. Useful when you’re working in an unheated loft in January.

Where Aluminium Foil Tape Gets Used

The most common use is sealing and joining foil-faced insulation boards and pipe lagging. It keeps the foil facing intact at joints and cut edges, maintaining both the thermal performance and the vapour barrier. In HVAC work it seals flexible air duct seams and connections, keeping systems airtight and compliant. It also gets pressed into service for general heating and ventilation repairs where you need something that won’t fail at elevated temperatures.

A Note on Adhesive Performance

Full bond strength is reached after 24 hours at 23°C. In practice this means the tape will hold immediately on application with firm pressure, but don’t test it hard straight away. The silicone release paper carrier strips cleanly without shredding, which is a small but genuine quality-of-life improvement on site.
