Everbuild Jaffa Tape is a premium American-style duct tape built for jobs where a standard gaffer tape simply won’t cut it. The name comes from the orange core visible on the roll, and if you’ve used it once you’ll know why tradespeople keep coming back to it. The jaffa tape format delivers double-strength adhesive on a thick, waterproof backing that holds where cheaper tapes peel away.
The tape measures 50mm wide by 25 metres long, giving you a practical working roll for most repair, sealing, and bundling tasks. The backing is substantially thicker than a standard gaffa tape, which means it conforms better to uneven surfaces and resists tearing under load. Once it’s down, it stays down, whether that’s on a dry interior surface or exposed to weather outside.
What Makes Everbuild Jaffa Tape Different From Standard Duct Tape
Most duct tapes on the market use a single-layer adhesive that performs well enough in clean, dry conditions. Everbuild Jaffa Tape uses a double-strength adhesive system that bonds to a much wider range of substrates, including polythene sheeting, which most tapes struggle with. If you’ve ever tried to seal a polythene vapour barrier or dust sheet with a budget tape, you’ll appreciate why this matters on site.
The waterproof construction means it won’t degrade when used outside or in damp environments. You can use it to temporarily seal pipe lagging, patch a tear in a fleece membrane, or hold a dust sheet in place on a wet floor. It won’t bubble, lift or fall apart when conditions turn awkward.
Strength and Conformability
The double-strength adhesive grips quickly on contact, which reduces the time spent pressing and waiting. The thick carrier also gives the tape enough body to bridge small gaps and surface irregularities without thinning out. It tears cleanly by hand in most conditions, so you’re not hunting for a knife mid-job.
Available in both grey and orange, the jaffa tape is easy to identify on site and the orange variant is particularly useful when you want the tape to be visible, marking hazard areas, temporary repairs, or sealed sections that need to be revisited. The grey version blends in more when appearance matters.
At 50mm wide, it’s a practical general-purpose width for the vast majority of site tasks. Wide enough for a proper seal, narrow enough to control precisely. A 25 metre roll won’t run out in the first hour of a job either, which is more than can be said for some of the budget alternatives stacked next to it on the shelf.
Everbuild is a well-established name in building tapes and adhesives, and the Jaffa Tape sits comfortably at the top of their duct tape range. If you need a tape that performs in real conditions rather than just on the packaging, this is the one to reach for.
Pro Tip: When using Everbuild Jaffa Tape on polythene sheeting, wipe the surface with a dry cloth first to remove any condensation or dust, as even a light film of moisture will reduce the initial bond significantly.
