The end feed adaptor is one of those fittings that lives quietly at the back of the van but earns its keep on practically every job. Whether you’re connecting copper pipework to a threaded valve, tank connector, or appliance inlet, this is the fitting that bridges the gap between soldered copper and BSP threads. Available in a range of sizes from 15mm x 1/2″ up to 28mm x 1″, with both male and female BSP options to suit the connection you’re working with.

All fittings are WRAS approved, which matters when you’re working on potable water systems. WRAS approval means the materials have been independently tested and confirmed as suitable for contact with drinking water — something specifiers and building control increasingly want to see in writing, and something any conscientious plumber should be using as standard anyway.

Where End Feed Adaptors Get Used

End feed fittings suit plumbers who are comfortable with a torch and solder. There’s no integral solder ring to rely on, which actually gives you more control over the joint if you know what you’re doing. The fitting heats evenly, you feed solder into the mouth of the fitting, and capillary action does the rest. Clean, consistent, and not reliant on however much solder someone decided to press into a pre-soldered fitting at the factory.

The male and female BSP variants cover the most common scenarios you’ll encounter. Female adaptors accept a male threaded fitting or valve tail. Male adaptors thread into a female port on a pump, valve body, or manifold. Getting the gender right before you start is one of those things that sounds obvious, but there’s a reason plumbers’ merchants sell a lot of both.

Size Options

The range covers 15mm x 1/2″ female, 15mm x 1/2″ male, 15mm x 3/4″ male, 22mm x 3/4″ female, 22mm x 3/4″ male, and 28mm x 1″ male. That covers the majority of domestic and light commercial work without needing to source oddities. Available individually or in boxes of ten, which makes sense if you’re stocking up before a larger job or just want to avoid the van rummage that costs you fifteen minutes every Tuesday morning.

At under a pound each, these are competitively priced for a WRAS approved fitting. Buy in tens and the saving is worth it over the course of a busy month.

Pro Tip: Always wire brush the outside of the copper pipe end and the inside of the fitting socket before fluxing — end feed joints fail far more often from poor prep than poor technique, and a dull pipe surface will cause solder to bead rather than flow cleanly into the joint.
