Everbuild Euroscrim plasterers scrim tape is exactly what the name suggests: a premium-grade, self-adhesive fibreglass mesh tape made in Europe, for jobs where cutting corners on materials isn’t an option. There has been a well-known shift in trade opinion over the last several years, with more and more plasterers moving away from cheaper Far East scrim and back towards European-manufactured product. The difference in weave consistency, adhesive strength and overall feel is something you notice immediately on the roll.
Scrim tape gets used at every joint, corner and junction where plasterboard sheets meet. It bridges the gap, reinforces the skim coat and stops cracking down the line. That last part is the point. A failed joint can mean a callback, a dissatisfied client and another day’s work for free. Good scrim is cheap insurance against all three.
Why Euroscrim Holds Up Where Others Fall Short
The fibreglass mesh in Euroscrim is alkali-resistant, which matters because fresh plaster and bonding coats are alkaline environments. Cheap tape can degrade in contact with those compounds, leading to delamination before the job is even finished. Euroscrim is manufactured to resist that, keeping the reinforcement where it needs to be throughout the drying and curing process.
The self-adhesive backing is another area where quality scrim earns its keep. It needs to stay put while you work, not peel back at the edges or bubble up under the first skim. Euroscrim’s adhesive holds reliably to plasterboard and similar substrates, giving you a stable base to work over without having to fuss around repositioning tape mid-coat.
Available in Two Widths
Euroscrim comes in 48mm and 100mm widths, both on 90m rolls. The 48mm width handles standard butt joints between boards neatly. The 100mm width gives extra coverage for wider gaps, poorly aligned boards or areas where additional reinforcement is useful. Neither is a compromise; both are the same quality tape, just sized for different situations on site.
If you have been buying whatever scrim is cheapest and wondering why the joints keep moving, this is the answer.
Pro Tip: When taping butt joints on plasterboard, press the scrim in firmly with a broad knife before skimming over it, any air trapped beneath the tape will telegraph through the finish coat as a ridge once it dries.
