Holesaw Pilot Drill

Replacement pilot drill for holesaw arbors. Keeps your holesaw cutting straight and true. Fits most standard arbors and is well worth having a spare or two in the bag.
The holesaw pilot drill is the small but genuinely important part that centres your holesaw and stops it wandering across the workpiece before the teeth bite. Without a good pilot drill, even a quality holesaw will skate around and leave a ragged, off-centre hole. At under a quid, replacing a worn or snapped one is a no-brainer.
These get lost, snapped, or simply worn blunt more often than most people expect. If you’re cutting through hardwood, composite doors, or metal sheet regularly, the pilot drill takes a fair amount of punishment. It’s the first thing to contact the surface, takes the initial torque, and keeps everything aligned while the holesaw gets up to speed. When it’s gone, the whole setup becomes unreliable.
Where a Holesaw Pilot Drill Makes a Difference
It sounds obvious, but a fresh pilot drill makes a real difference to cut quality. A blunt or slightly bent pilot will let the holesaw drift before it engages, which means oversized holes and torn edges. Swap it out and the difference is immediate, cleaner entry, better finish, and far less swearing involved.
Fits standard holesaw arbors across most common brands and sizes. Whether you’re installing door hardware, cutting cable entry points, or working through plasterboard and timber, having a couple of spare pilot drills in the kit means a snapped one doesn’t kill the job. They’re consumables, really. Treat them like that.
The thread and shank are machined to the standard sizing used across the majority of bi-metal holesaw arbors, so compatibility with most setups is straightforward. If you’re buying holeSaw accessories in bulk, throwing a few of these in the order makes sense.
Pro Tip: Keep a spare pilot drill in the same case as your arbor, not loose in the van, because you will need one mid-job and it will absolutely not be where you left it.
