High Speed Steel jigsaw blades for cutting metal cleanly and accurately. Milled and wavy set teeth deliver a fine, straight cut through mild steel, sheet metal, pipes, profiles and non-ferrous metals. Sold in packs of 5.
The T318A HSS metal jigsaw blades are built for one job: cutting metal without making a mess of it. High Speed Steel construction means the blade holds its hardness even as heat builds up during the cut, which matters more than people realise when you’re working through mild steel or similar materials that generate a fair amount of friction. These are not the blades you reach for when trimming a bit of MDF. These are the ones you grab when there’s steel in the way.
Each blade runs at 132mm and uses a milled and wavy set tooth pattern, commonly referred to as MWS. That tooth geometry does two things well: it reduces vibration, and it produces a noticeably finer cut edge than a standard coarse blade. If you’ve ever tried to cut thin sheet metal with the wrong blade and ended up with a ragged, chattering mess, the difference here is immediate. The cut is controlled, straight, and clean enough that you’re not spending the next ten minutes filing down a rough edge.
Where T318A HSS Jigsaw Blades Get Used
These blades cover a solid range of metalwork applications. Sheet metal fabrication, cutting steel pipe to length, trimming aluminium sections and profiles, working with copper, brass and other non-ferrous stock — the HSS body handles them all without losing its edge prematurely. The wavy tooth set is particularly effective on thinner gauges where a coarser pattern would catch and snag.
Why HSS Makes a Difference on Metal
Bi-metal blades are popular for general-purpose use, but a dedicated HSS blade has a harder body throughout, which makes it better suited to sustained metal cutting where temperatures stay elevated. The blade resists heat-related softening, so it keeps cutting accurately for longer on the kind of work it was designed for. For tradespeople regularly cutting metal on site, having the right blade in the kit saves time and reduces wasted cuts. The T318A comes in a pack of five, so you’re not scrambling for a replacement mid-job.
Pro Tip: For thin sheet metal, let the blade do the work at a lower speed setting — forcing the pace generates more heat and dulls the blade faster than the cut itself.
T318A HSS metal jigsaw blades are used across a wide range of metalworking tasks on site and in the workshop. Plumbers and pipefitters use them for cutting steel and copper pipe where access rules out a pipe cutter. Sheet metal workers rely on the fine MWS tooth pattern for clean cuts in thin gauge material without the edge distortion you get from coarser blades. Steel fabricators, maintenance engineers and general contractors all find a use for these when there's profiled steel, aluminium extrusion or non-ferrous stock to cut to size.
Best For
- Mild steel sheet and plate
- Steel and copper pipe
- Aluminium sections and profiles
- Non-ferrous metals including brass and copper
- Thin sheet metal
Works With
- Standard T-shank jigsaw fittings
- Most corded and cordless jigsaws
- Variable speed jigsaws
Key Specifications
- Blade length: 132mm
- Material: High Speed Steel (HSS)
- Tooth pattern: Milled and wavy set (MWS)
- Shank type: T-shank
- Pack quantity: 5 blades
- Produces fine, straight cuts
Not suitable for: Not suitable for cutting wood, timber-based boards or plastics — there are far better blade types for those materials. Also not recommended for hardened steels or cast iron, where an HSS blade will struggle.
Fit the blade securely into the jigsaw's T-shank clamp and check it is fully seated before starting. Mark your cut line clearly on the metal surface — a scribe or marker both work. For sheet metal and thin profiles, set the jigsaw to a lower speed to keep heat down and maintain control. Apply light, consistent forward pressure and let the blade cut at its own pace. Forcing the tool generates heat that shortens blade life quickly.
Support the workpiece properly to minimise vibration, particularly on thin sheet. A piece of metal flapping around on sawhorses will fight you the whole way. Clamp it down, and the blade does a noticeably cleaner job.
- Mark the cut line clearly on the metal using a scribe or permanent marker
- Clamp the workpiece securely to prevent movement and vibration during cutting
- Insert the T318A blade fully into the jigsaw T-shank clamp and confirm it is locked
- Set the jigsaw to a lower speed setting for thin sheet metal, slightly higher for thicker stock
- Start the cut at the marked line and apply steady, light forward pressure
- Allow the blade to cut without forcing — let the teeth do the work
- On longer cuts, pause briefly if the blade becomes very hot to extend blade life
- After cutting, deburr any sharp edges with a file or deburring tool
What shank type do these blades use?
The T318A uses a T-shank fitting, which is the standard on the vast majority of modern jigsaws from all the major brands. If your jigsaw takes a U-shank, these will not fit.
Can these cut aluminium as well as steel?
Yes. The HSS construction and MWS tooth geometry handle aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals well. Aluminium in particular cuts cleanly with these blades, provided you keep the speed steady and the workpiece clamped.
How many blades are in a pack?
Each pack contains 5 blades. Enough to get through a decent stretch of work without worrying about running short mid-job.
The T318A is a 132mm T-shank jigsaw blade manufactured from High Speed Steel throughout. HSS retains its hardness at elevated temperatures, making it well suited to sustained metal cutting where friction and heat build up in use. The milled and wavy set tooth configuration reduces vibration and produces a finer cut edge than a straight or skip-tooth pattern, particularly effective on thin sheet metal and profiled sections.
