HSS jigsaw blades built for cutting steel, aluminium, thin sheet metal, pipes and non-ferrous metals. Milled and wavy set teeth give a fine, straight cut. 132mm blade length. Suitable for high heat applications where standard blades give up.
The T318B HSS metal jigsaw blades are made from High Speed Steel, which means they hold their edge at temperatures that would have a standard blade going soft and wandering off line. If you’re cutting mild steel, thin sheet metal, aluminium or non-ferrous profiles, this is the blade you reach for. The milled and wavy set teeth produce a clean, straight cut rather than the ragged edge you get from a blade that’s fighting the material.
HSS as a material has been used in metalworking tooling for a long time, and for good reason. It maintains its hardness at elevated temperatures, which matters when you’re cutting ferrous metals with a jigsaw — friction builds up fast, and a blade that can’t handle the heat becomes a liability pretty quickly. The T318B is designed with that in mind.
Where T318B HSS Jigsaw Blades Earn Their Keep
These blades are regularly used by fabricators, maintenance engineers, site workers and anyone who needs to cut metal without a grinder or angle grinder being the right tool for the job. They’re particularly useful when you need to cut in a confined space, follow a curve, or make an internal cut where a grinder simply isn’t an option.
Sandwich materials and profile sections are also well within range. If you’ve ever tried to cut a composite panel or a section of box profile with the wrong blade, you’ll know it ends badly. The wavy set on these teeth handles varying thicknesses and layered materials more cleanly than a straight-set blade.
Fit and Compatibility
The T-shank fitting is the current standard across virtually all modern jigsaw brands, so these will drop straight into most machines without any fuss. At 132mm in length, they offer enough depth for most sheet and profile work without the flex you can get from longer blades in thinner gauges.
Supplied in a pack of five, they’re priced sensibly enough that you’re not rationing blades on a job.
Pro Tip: When cutting mild steel, let the blade do the work at a steady speed rather than forcing the pace. Pushing too hard generates excess heat even for an HSS blade, shortens blade life noticeably, and tends to produce a rougher edge.
T318B HSS metal jigsaw blades are used across fabrication, maintenance, site work and sheet metal work. They cut mild steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metals, pipes, box profile, structural sections and sandwich panel materials. Where a straight internal cut or a curved line is needed in metal, a jigsaw fitted with an HSS blade is often the most practical tool on site. They are commonly used by plumbers cutting pipework, fabricators trimming profiles, and maintenance engineers working on plant and equipment.
Best For
- Mild steel sheet and section
- Aluminium and non-ferrous metals
- Thin sheet metal
- Pipes and tube
- Profile and box section
- Sandwich and composite panel materials
Works With
- All standard T-shank jigsaws
- Most major jigsaw brands
- Corded and cordless jigsaws
Key Specifications
- Blade length: 132mm
- Shank type: T-shank
- Material: High Speed Steel (HSS)
- Tooth set: Milled and wavy set (MWS)
- Pack quantity: 5 blades
- Application: Metal cutting
Not suitable for: Not suitable for cutting wood, plastics or masonry. The tooth geometry and pitch are optimised for metal and will not perform well on timber or sheet materials.
Fit the T318B into your jigsaw using the T-shank quick-release mechanism. Select a medium orbital setting or switch orbital action off entirely for cleaner cuts in thin sheet metal. Marking your cut line clearly before starting pays off, especially on longer cuts in steel where it is easy to drift.
Start the blade at the edge of the material or use a plunge cut entry point where needed. Keep the baseplate flat against the workpiece throughout. Let the blade speed do the work and avoid forcing the pace, particularly in thicker steel.
- Mark the cut line clearly on the metal surface using a scribe, marker or chalk line
- Secure the workpiece firmly with clamps before cutting
- Insert the T318B blade into the jigsaw T-shank fitting and ensure it is fully locked
- Set orbital action to low or off for cleaner cuts in sheet metal and thin sections
- Position the jigsaw baseplate flat against the material before starting the blade
- Bring the blade up to speed before contact with the metal
- Follow the cut line steadily, maintaining consistent pressure without forcing the blade
- Allow the blade to cool briefly between long cuts in thicker material
What shank type are the T318B blades?
T-shank, which is the current standard fitting used by the vast majority of jigsaw manufacturers. They will fit most modern corded and cordless jigsaws without adapters.
Can these blades cut stainless steel?
The T318B is rated for mild steel, aluminium, thin sheet metal and non-ferrous metals. Stainless steel is significantly harder and more abrasive. These blades may cut thin stainless in a pinch, but blade life will be reduced and results can vary. For regular stainless work, a blade specifically rated for stainless is a better choice.
How many blades come in a pack?
Each pack contains five blades. At this price point they are worth keeping a few packs on the van, particularly if you regularly cut sheet metal or profiles on site.
The T318B is manufactured from High Speed Steel, a tool steel alloy that retains its hardness at elevated temperatures, making it well suited to cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals where friction heat is a factor. The milled and wavy set tooth configuration produces a fine, controlled cut with minimal burr. T-shank fitment conforms to the current universal jigsaw standard. Blade length is 132mm.
