This is the Timco version, made from austenitic 201 grade stainless steel. That matters on external walls, roof build-ups, and anywhere moisture is a long-term concern. Zinc-plated alternatives can manage, but stainless is the right call when you want a fixing that will still be doing its job in fifteen years without a rusty streak running down your cladding. The 5.5mm countersunk hole accepts standard countersunk screws, so there’s no specialist fastener required.

Where Stainless Steel Insulation Discs Earn Their Keep

These are used by insulation fixers, cladding installers, and general builders working on timber-framed walls, warm roof systems, and external wall insulation setups. The 36mm diameter is the standard go-to size for most batten-fixed applications, large enough to hold PIR, EPS or mineral wool boards reliably without the disc disappearing into softer foam faces.

They work best when you’re fixing through the face of the board into a batten or substrate below. Drive a countersunk screw through the disc and into the batten, and the board is held without any risk of the head pulling through under pressure or over time. On site, people sometimes skip the disc and use oversized screw heads instead. That rarely ends well, particularly with softer insulation products where the facing compresses and the board shifts.
