The Bond It 5 Minute PU Wood Glue is a one-part, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive designed for serious timber bonding where speed and strength both matter. It draws on ambient moisture to cure, so there’s no mixing, no measuring, and no faffing about with two-part systems. If you need a bond that genuinely holds up outdoors, this meets BS EN 204 Class D4, which is the waterproof rating you want for exterior joinery, structural timber repairs and anything that’s going to see the weather.

The gel itself is thixotropic, meaning it stays where you put it rather than running off vertical or overhead surfaces. That makes it far more practical on site than thinner PU adhesives. It’s translucent once cured, so squeeze-out on visible timber joints isn’t the disaster it would be with a white or yellow wood glue. Five minutes to initial set is genuinely useful when you need to move on quickly, though clamping or support is still recommended during that window.

Where Bond It PU Wood Glue Gets Used

This adhesive comes into its own anywhere moisture is a concern. External door frames, window boards, garden furniture, decking components, timber cladding repairs, and hardwood threshold strips are all natural territory. It’s equally at home on internal structural joints where a high-strength, durable bond is needed. Because it’s resistant to acids and chemicals, it handles some of the nastier environments too, including marine applications where seawater exposure would destroy a standard woodworking glue.

Working with the D4 Rating

BS EN 204 D4 is the highest waterproof classification for wood adhesives under that standard. It means the bond has been tested under full water immersion and cyclic stress conditions. For external joinery or anything exposed to prolonged damp, this is the specification worth looking for. Many standard PVA-based wood glues only reach D2 or D3, so the jump to D4 with a PU formula is meaningful, not just a marketing claim.

The solvent-free formulation also makes it safer to use in enclosed spaces without the fumes you’d get from solvent-based alternatives. Useful when working indoors on a job that can’t be ventilated easily.
