Aluminium oxide is a hard-wearing abrasive grain that holds up well under sustained use. It cuts consistently and doesn’t load up with dust as quickly as cheaper alternatives, which means you’re spending more time sanding and less time swapping sheets. The open structure helps with that too, giving the dust somewhere to go rather than building up on the face of the paper and reducing cut.

Where These Aluminium Oxide Sanding Rolls Get Used

The paper backing means these rolls flex with the surface, so they’re comfortable to use by hand even on curved or irregular profiles. Wrap a short length around a sanding block for flat work, or tear off a strip and fold it over for getting into tighter areas. They’re also compatible with powered sheet sanders, so you can cut to size and load them straight onto the tool.

Available in a full grit range from 40g through to 240g. The coarser grits (40g, 60g) are suited to rough preparation, removing old paint, and levelling uneven surfaces. Mid-range grits like 80g and 120g handle general sanding on bare wood or between coats. The finer end, 180g and 240g, is where you’d be finishing timber before staining or varnishing, or flatting back a painted surface before a topcoat.
