Where BZP High Tensile Set Screw Bolts Get Used

M6 and M8 sizes are common in fabrication shops and for securing guards, covers, and access panels. Being fully threaded rather than part-shanked, they give full thread engagement across the entire bolt length. That matters when you are fixing through thinner materials or where you want clamping force right up to the head. Pair with a standard hex nut and washer and you are done.

What does fully threaded mean and why does it matter?

Can these be used externally?
Yes. The bright zinc plating gives reasonable corrosion resistance for external use in normal UK weather conditions. For more aggressive environments — coastal locations, chemical exposure, or anything that stays wet for long periods — you would be better served by stainless steel or hot dip galvanised fixings. The zinc plating on these is a practical middle ground, not a substitute for more heavy-duty corrosion protection.
