Stretcher Plates – Zinc – Box 100

Zinc stretcher plates are one of those small fixings that do a surprisingly important job. These carbon steel plates, zinc plated for clean indoor environments, are designed to reinforce and square up drawer frames, cabinet carcasses and kitchen unit fittings. The slotted holes are the key feature here — they let you make small positional adjustments before you lock everything down, which is exactly what you want when you’re dealing with flat-pack joinery or anything that needs to be pulled into square before fixing.

At 38 x 25 x 29mm and 1.8mm thick, these aren’t the beefiest plate on the market, but they’re not meant to be. This is a high-volume internal joinery fixing. Joiners, kitchen fitters and shop fitters go through these by the handful on a typical job, so buying a box of 100 makes straightforward sense rather than picking up a bag of ten at the merchant and running short halfway through a run of units.

Where Zinc Stretcher Plates Get Used

The most common application is kitchen fitting. When you’re hanging base units or wall units and the carcasses need tying together at the back, stretcher plates do the job neatly without getting in the way of anything behind the unit. They’re also used in drawer construction to keep the frame rigid, and in general cabinet making wherever you need a discreet internal brace that won’t be seen once the job is done.

Furniture manufacture and shop fitting are other typical trades. Anywhere you’re assembling timber or board-based frames that need to stay square under light to moderate load, zinc stretcher plates are a standard part of the toolkit. The zinc plating gives adequate corrosion resistance for dry, indoor conditions — kitchens, bedrooms, living areas, retail fit-outs. They’re not rated for damp or external use, so keep them inside where the environment stays stable.

With 100 plates per box and a price that makes sense for trade buying, these are worth keeping on the van if kitchen fitting or furniture installation is regular work. Running out mid-job because you bought a small bag is, frankly, its own kind of problem.
