When a standard tarp just won’t cut it, this Extra Heavy Duty Tarpaulin steps in. Built to a 14 x 14 weave at 180+ gsm, it’s a noticeably more substantial sheet than the cheap blue rolls you find bundled at the back of a van. Whether you’re covering a scaffold, protecting materials on site over winter, or sheeting a load on a trailer, the difference in quality is immediately apparent when you pick it up.
The hem is heat sealed and reinforced with polypropylene fibre rope, which means it holds its shape under tension rather than pulling through or distorting at the edges. Corners are double-reinforced for extra strength at the tie-down points — which is exactly where cheaper tarps tend to fail first. The rust proof aluminium eyelets are spaced around the perimeter for multiple fixing options, so you’re not limited to just the corners when you need to lash it down properly.
Extra Heavy Duty Tarpaulin Features Worth Knowing
UV treatment is included as standard. This matters more than people give it credit for — untreated polypropylene degrades surprisingly quickly in direct sunlight, going brittle and tearing at the eyelets within a season. The UV stabilisation on this tarp significantly extends its outdoor life, making it a sensible buy for covers that stay put for months at a time.
The tarp is also water resistant, handling rain and standing water without soaking through. It won’t replace a fully waterproof membrane in a structural sense, but for sheeting materials, machinery, or equipment against the elements, it does the job reliably. Available in 2m x 3m, 4m x 5m, and 5m x 8m to suit jobs of different scales.
Pro Tip: Always secure a tarp with the eyelets under tension at multiple points along each edge, not just the corners — distributing the load this way reduces stress on any single eyelet and prevents the classic corner tear-out in high winds.
