High Load DPC – Toughsheet MAX Premium 20m Rolls

Toughsheet MAX High Load DPC is a premium damp proof course membrane built for construction projects where structural loads are above average. Whether you are laying blockwork on a commercial build or working with heavy masonry on a residential project, a standard DPC simply may not hold up. This high load DPC is engineered specifically for those conditions, meeting the requirements of BS EN 14909:2012 and providing reliable long-term moisture control at the base of walls.

The membrane is thick enough to resist compression under significant dead loads without tearing, splitting or losing its water-resistant properties over time. That matters more than most people realise. A DPC that gets squeezed out of shape between mortar beds in the first few years of a building’s life is not doing the job it was put there to do. Toughsheet MAX holds its integrity under load, which is the whole point.

Where Toughsheet MAX High Load DPC Gets Used

This product is suitable across a wide range of masonry construction applications. It performs well in cavity walls, solid walls, and retaining wall construction. The roll widths available cover the most common masonry dimensions, from 100mm single-leaf blockwork right up to 300mm solid wall construction.

Toughsheet MAX is also tested for radon gas resistance, making it a practical choice on sites in radon-affected areas. Rather than sourcing a separate membrane for radon protection, this DPC covers both requirements in one product. That keeps the materials list short and the installation straightforward.

Radon Resistance and Compliance

Radon resistance is increasingly specified on building projects in affected zones across the UK. Toughsheet MAX is tested to meet radon protection requirements, meaning it can be used where a ground floor barrier is needed alongside standard damp protection. Always check your site-specific radon map and consult current building regulations to confirm what level of protection is required for your area.

Because this high load DPC complies with BS EN 14909:2012, it satisfies the standard specification requirement on most projects and should be accepted by building control without issue.

Installation follows standard DPC practice. Lay the membrane in one continuous piece wherever possible. Where joints are unavoidable, use a compatible jointing tape with a minimum 150mm overlap to maintain continuity. The DPC should be bedded between mortar courses and positioned to support the cavity drainage function when used in conjunction with weep vents. Keep the membrane clean and free from mortar bridging during the build to avoid compromising the damp proof line.

The 20m roll length suits most runs without excessive waste, and the range of widths means you can specify the correct size for each wall type on site rather than trimming down from a wider roll. Five widths are available: 100mm, 112mm, 150mm, 225mm and 300mm.
